Default resin saver molds

i am going to get 3 resin saver molds from newlondon88 in the next couple of weeks which will have to go into a medium flat rate box from the US which i believe will allow room for another 5 or 6

if anyone is interested in getting some molds as well then let me know and we can split up the postage

the molds are US $55 each and he makes them for
Siera
Cigar
Jnr Series - gents, majestic etc
full size - gents, majestic etc
Baron/Sedona
Squire

let me know if you are interested

MIK

the resin saver molds can be used in a number ways but the basic thing it does is save on resin because the resin goes straight onto the tube rather than having to waste the drill holes

i used the resin save mold here

les in red derr uses them to cast his flies here which is a better example because what you see in the first pickie is what comes out of the mold

i think charlie said that you use around 1 ounce which in our language is around 25grams of resin to a casting

each resin saver mold has 4 sets of holes, sorry i don't have a pickie at the moment if everyone wants to see on i will get a pickie tomorrow night and post it.

i hope this helps

MIK

I've had many people ask me if they can modify the molds to pour one tube. They were
looking to make a silicone 'dam' between the cavities.

At first I wasn't sure why, since we're only talking about 25g of resin. But I can see where
it would add up if you're only doing one Sierra at a time, but doing a lot of them.

Now that I'm experimenting with double casting, I find I need to pour one tube fairly often.
So .. the first time I poured two tubes and I just saved the one I didn't use. When I need
to pour just one pen, I put this other half (already cured) back in the mold to take up the
space. Now I can pour one Sierra with under a half ounce of resin. Then the hardest
part is measuring that small an amount

So .. make one double and save half of it as a spacer. It should last forever.

Just noticed on IAP that Charlie has his 4 for 3 offer going again. I made use of his last offer, bit of saving there.

Yep.. I just put an ad up there a little while ago. I can extend that offer here, too.
If you want to combine orders and put it in under one person's name and shipping
address, that's fine. Sometimes I can add onto a friend's silicone order and get
their discount, so I can do the sale once in a while. Problem is I never know when..
