Default Stabilised and cast Burdekin Plum stones

Just out of the pressure pot. Stabilised Burdekin Plum seed stones cast in white epoxy with a little bit of gold powder. I collected the stones last year, washed and cleaned the crap off, then went through the painful process of cleaning out the 13 holes around the edge. There were over 400 stones I did and I have almost the same number of stab wounds in my fingers. I then finished drying them in the oven before stabilising under vacuum with Cactus Juice. The cast block is 75x75x340 long for what will be an expensive pepper grinder and the other is just the top slice of excess resin that would be ok for knife scales and maybe pen blanks.

    Very nice job Neil.

There's a fair bit of white between the seed stones though, maybe next time you could cram them in a little closer together? Providing your fingers are up to it of course. Maybe something the size of a pen blank would be a little easier on you?

Another practical demonstration that makes me glad I'm not a turner!

Honestly though I'd love to see the finished pepper grinder. Both your skill and your patience are way beyond my abilities.

They just appear that way because you may be looking at a top and a side, not necessarily where they meet, they are jammed in there.

That comment was tounge in cheek Neil. Having seen on the forum the way you do things I'll bet they are jammed in there. Prepping something like that would be a step too hard for most of us.

Well, Dave, you have an open invitation to visit my shed and have a go at the dark art of turning

    Looking good Neil.

I'll keep that in mind Pat. As you know, I do get down your way pretty regularly.
