    Red face Cigars are sticking

G'day you lot down there from us lot up here. Not really posted before on this web site but seen as I got my pens from Timberbits I thought I would pick your brains.
I have been making Cigar pens and when completed and joining the upper to the lower barrel I find the union very stiff. The twist mechanism works fine, the upper barrel is dificult to engage without any force, but when it does the twist mechanism won't work and the upper barrel is also stiff to turn. Please help with any suggestions, as I always feel the product is perfect and the person is the fault

If the pen works ok before assembly of the cap there is an alignment problem somewhere this can be in the joiner where the activator screws in ,eg the end is not square to the tube ,even a very small offset will tip the shaft out of square when pressed on to the shoulder. the same applies to the cap ,if not dead square it can cock slightly to one side making it hard to push the cap on as it is pushing slightly to one side . You can easily check if that is the problem by assembling the parts but don't push them hard to the shoulders then test if it works properly ,if ok finish pressing each part and trying again ,that should tell you if its out of alignment
And welcome to our friendly site hehe, cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

    Default Cigars are sticking

Thanks for that John I'll try that with regards to the alignment. I did try other upper barrells on them but there was certain discrepencies, so the alignment is to look at. Hope to manage to use this website more often. It seems to be well populated.
Good luck to you all and Thanks

    Default Cigars are sticking

Hello John and Cookie and all, I would like to thank you for the welcome and appreciate your help with gratitude, However - I feel such a fool imposing on you for help when the fault actually, is as I said, the persons fault. I have actually used a short tube on the lower tube. now how stupid is that. This is why the nib is further out than should be. Now I have chastised myself and sternly advised myself to pay more attention in future, otherwise trouble! I will now use a longer tube and rebuild.
Thanks again for your help Allan

    Hello Jonesy
Greetings from the Hunter Valley Australia. I have just read your comments and find them funny The reason for this is I believe that if you had a dollar from every person that has made the same mistake as what you have said you done (putting the tubes wrong way arround) then you would be a very wealthy man
There wood be many a penturner myself included that has done this and yet as much as we all say it will never happen again it does So i wish you good luck and I am glad you sorted out the problem and we look forward to seeing photos of what you make in the future.

    Cheers Ian
