Default Classic Elite Fountain pen help please!

http://www.pennstateind.com/library/PKPAR-FCEG_ins.pdf

Says that the top has to be turned down to the brass tube to 1/8th???

Now that's scary! Anyone got any advice on how not to wreck the tube by getting the dimentions wrong?

I just use a parting tool as it says in the instructions.

Just take easy cuts, bit at the time, till you get down to the brass.

Not as scary as it sounds.
