My package went in the mail this morning. Hopefully they don't take too long. I sent it via surface mail to Australia. Enjoy!

Don't want to rain on your parade clinch, but surface mail from Canada does not have a good record to Australia. In a recent blank swap my Canadian partner sent me some blanks in early November 2008, they have yet to arrive. In fact he finished up re-sending another lot airmail and even they took more than 4 weeks to arrive, but at least they arrived. This was not an isolated case either, other people have had similar problems with stuff coming from Canada.
My other partner, also in Canada (it was a 3 way blank swap), decided to send me some blanks as well. They were sent airmail first week in January, and again they have not yet arrived as of today.
In contrast most parcels sent from the US via USPS get here between 7-10 days, the record being 3 days!
Let's keep our fingers crossed

David (Timberbits) that birdseye Huon Pine pen set and box are great, you have certainly used that increasingly rare Tasmanian timber to its' best advantage, both on the pen set and the gorgeous box. Well done.
Skippy your pens are great (dare I say "as usual", the SS pen is up to your usual high standard, love those blue acrylic inserts, very inventive. I reckon David is a very lucky bloke to have received some "skippy" pens.
Only problem I have now is when I look at my effort so far............

Ack, I'm falling behind.
Keep trying to come up with something unique for me, and not having much luck so far. Have to keep raising the bar when I see other folks efforts - trouble is the bar keeps falling off it's pegs
Another attempt tomorrow.....

I'm afraid Fred (Bigshed) still has a bit of a wait before mine is ready to send. Heck I don't even know if it's going to turn out. I'm kinda pushing the boundries of more than 1200 years of Japanese lacquerware culture with this "experimental" pen. My old sensei would not be amused....lol. I give it a 30/70 chance of success so just in case I have another much less "out there" offering on standby. So anyway, Fred....slowly but surely.

Well I was planning on sending mine out today as well, but the wood I was working with decided to be a pain in my hind-end. About half of it disconnected from the barrel, and if you could see the floor of my shop you'd understand why I couldn't find it!
So I glued up a new one and will turn it tonight. I have my goody bag of blanks ready to go along with it so hopefully it will go out tomorrow.

Well I am almost ready to mail. The pens are ready if the last coat of finish dries but I just got some great wood from a guy and I want to get some of it cut to share. So this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

I got the mail today and expected a nice pen and maybe a couple of blanks I did not expect this. An absolutely awesome Baron FP in Tasmanian Blackwood and letter opener from Timberbits. Some nice burl blanks in wood I have not seen before as well. One happy customer here. You have definitely raised the bar on this one Thanks David.

Well, I've got my pen ready for the exchange now as well. I've got a bit of a story to explain the fun I've had in making this one ... but I'll save it for picture time. It will be on it's way to Australia after my trip to the Post Office on my lunch Tuesday morning.
Hope you enjoy the parcel funkychicken.
