This just in....
Let me just say wow. Amos, you have really out done yourself here. I could not believe my eyes when I opened it up. I am not 100% sure what the kit is but Amos sent me a fun riddle to help figure out the wood type which is Coolibah Burl. It has a bit of Bark on it which really looks great. I love the look of Sap/Heart mix. This pen is just too much and I could not be happier. Thank you Amos!!!!
I am still working on my pics but I think they came out ok, then again I don't think a bad picture could be taken of this pen.

Posted this by mistake in last years forum so reposting it here.
Yipee the parcel arrived today. Great looking Roman harvest rollerball in Huon Pine. I'd been comtemplating getting some of these kits, after seeing one in person I will be getting some. Along with the pen were 4 nice blanks and a case from Brett Hammond. Another successful swap completed.
The closed end is the one I sent Brett he received it a while ago but hasn't posted it. It started out as an El Grande dressed in Elm Burl. also sent him som local Canadian blanks but didn't take a picture of them.

my gift from Trevor Jesse
I recieved my goodies from Trevor yeserday,
I never knew that Maple ( I think ) could look so good a pen and pencil finished in what is the the highest standard I have ever seen, I think its a CA finish . After seeing these pens I will have to hurry up and get the windows into my shed and try CA again.
The blanks great great but already SWMBO has put in her bid for the whisky barrel.
many thanks Trevor for the great swap and also thanks for the people whom without their time these pen swaps would never happenAttachment 201494

Pens I have done am sending out for Christos and HazzaB
Well, Finally getting out of the hospital after 3 months I have the pens and pen blanks done for HazzaB and Christos. Since Christos will be gone for the next few months on vacation I will show what I made him.
The first pen is made of an acrylic I made for this. It is white and purple swirl, made with a Comfort pen kit. The second pen is made from a nickle 30.06 shell and a copper point of which I hand made the whole thing. The blank is Whitetail Antler from what my daughter shot last year.
Last attachment is a bunch of pen blanks which 2 of the segmented blanks I made from Maple/Purpleheart/Blackwalnut cut 3 ways and then cut at 45*
I hope Christos enjoys them when he gets home. I am not going to show what I did for HazzaB. He can take the photoes himself.
Cheers

Re: 2012 Australia Day Pen Swap - Draw etc
Well my second swap just arrived, a Sierra dressed in cross cut red cedar from Buford's grandfathers yard, logged about 60 years ago. A fine pen and will be treasured.
There is also a fine selection of blanks.

"Quister" (Jamie) in U.S.A. has received my swap contents
and will finish making mine shortly.
As he has now seen my items I will publish the pics
and save him doing so.
The "Sierra" is Beefwood and the "Slimline"
is Conkerberry.
Will look forward to receiving a package in due course.

These are the pics of the superb fountain pen from GeoffW89 - a Red Mallee or Coolibah burl (I'm not sure which it is) and the very nice blanks to go with it. Thank you Geoff. The pen will be well used and the blanks will make some lovely pens.

I would have to agree that it's a very nice pen and I think it looks coolabah to me BUT I am no expert on timber only a person who turns a few Red Mallee and this looks a little light for me.
Cheers Ian
