Thumbs up My 2014 Australia Swap Pen!!

My Australian Partner was Sawdust Maker, and my package arrived today. The pen is a Sedona wrapped in Mackay Cedar and finished with a perfect CA finish. As we all know, in most cases, pictures don't do our pens justice. And this is no exception. The pen looks like it's in a 3D movie.

He also sent along several blanks. The most interesting to me is the Huron Pine. To be honest, I'd never understood all the fuss about this timber. I mean it looks similar to most other pine. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. I can't wait to make something with this blank.

    Thanks Nick!!

My swap from Tony (perfectpensandpencils) arrived yesterday. A beautifully executed Churchill and matching stylus. Many thanks Tony, I think I was the winner in our pairing.

    Default AUS Day Pen Swap

    Michael,

Glad you recived it ok and pleased that you like it
With regards to the blanks to be honest I am not 100% sure exactly what they all are other than the cast blank which was one of my own castings which is a bits and pieces casting. I think the timber blanks are New Guinea Rosewood Burl and QLD Maple but not sure what the others are ? so might need some input from others or Mapleman here )

Thought I would share a couple of photos I took prior to sending the parcel to Michael.

    Thanks
    Tony

i recieved my swap pen from Corbs earlier in the week, but i have been home too late to get pickies, so here it is now

Siera dressed in a MASTERPIECE made up of Gidgee, Silky Oak, Brass, Aluminum & Copper, and a wonderful deep and shiny CA finish to boot

there was also a number of very nice blanks to go with it (he who dies with the most wins)

the minister for war and finance decided she wanted that one as well, but i finally won a battle its only taken 30 years

thanks Corbs its a treasure thats for sure

MIK & Trev, glad your pens have touched down safely and that you're happy with them

The swap seems to be running smoothly this year, hope there aren't any issues behind the scenes which haven't come to light yet
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

    Default I GOT MINE

Now to say that I am a little excited is very much an understatement.

I partnered with David Mitchell and the package was sent about two weeks ago by what I can see from the reminder notice in the post office box. I got back from holidays and I must say what an excellent surprise.

Received a parcel from my US swap partner, USNR'03 (Peter), today.

Not only was there a nice pen in there for me, a Tycoon with a blank by Mrs PTownSubbie, but also a bracelet helper for Mrs Big Shed A very nice touch I thought.

    Also received some nice blanks.

My parcel to Peter was sent last Friday, some delay experienced because of the really hot spell we had for a while.
