Sort of strange getting paired up with someone that is part of your website....was this planned?

I think I received the better end of this deal!
Not sure on the materials used, but it certainly a stunner(maybe BSea-Bob will stop by and let us know what is happening here), and there is a lot going on!!!

By getting right in there with the camera lens, I'm trying to show you that he doesn't need to be worried about someone scrutinizing his turnings.....there is not a flaw to be found!! Thank you Bob on a very well made pen!

Scott (hope he can't get this close on mine) B
Hmm, That's funny because I do remember a few flaws. And the light wood is Acacia with walnut scallops and accents. The finial & green rings are alumilite. For some reason the finial turned out darker than I thought it would. But I'm glad you liked it Scott. You knew you were getting a custom finial, right?!?!?

And I thought I would follow up with Scott's pen he made for me. It's Hemlock cones cast in PR. When I 1st saw the pen, I thought he'd come up with a new way of swirling resin. There is so much movement with the colors swirling around the cones. The 3D effect is awesome, and something pictures just won't show. But I'll try anyway.

And just to show a closeup.

    Thanks Scott.

I received a box in the mail yesterday from Jason (Hotrodder97). What an beautiful example of workmanship the pen is. I am humbled by his generosity in not only sharing the pen but a whole collection of different woods. Jason thanks. You set the bar very high indeed.

    Mitch (Bedangerous).

BTW the meaning of the forum name is because I only know as much to Bedangerous.

    Default Beautiful Workmanship from Darrin1200

Received my pen, and box , and blanks from Darrin today, superb workmanship and beautiful pen and box. Apparently the box is made from a "disaster" cast!!!!,The pen is from Maple and Walnut, the pattern being made with maple and black walnut slivers,
There are three lots of pattern around the circumference, requiring 120 degree angle cutting, thanks very much Darrin, much appreciated.Amos

    Your very welcome Amos.

Thank you very much for the kind words. This was a design I've had in my head for a while. I'm glad I was able to bring it out for you.

    Default My Score From TdRumnut

    Hi All,

Firstly, Sorry Trev, I received my swap weeks ago but i only just got round to taking photos of my score,

Secondly, I Received my swap parcel from Michigan Mike on my birthday (4th of March) but I haven't opened it yet as i am waiting until I send my parcel to him, which should be Monday as i had encountered a few small problems but that will be sorted this weekend

So now back to my score from Trev,

The pen is a gold vertex clicker wrapped in a beautifully finished piece of myrtle burl,

and the rest of my score is some awesome blanks, some of which have given me a bit of a push to hurry up and start casting Especially the couple of wormy/borer hole filled NGR and what i think was forest redgum
some of the other timbers are, Banksia, English Elm, Bubinga, Marri Paperbark, New Guinea Rosewood - Burl and Figured,

Trev also included one of his own cast blanks, and then while we were touring his shed he gave me a liquid amber pod cast blank he had done as well

    swap1.jpgswap2.jpgswap3.jpgswap4.jpg

    Again thank you Trev,

I have recieved a great Pen and a good new friend in the process,

    Cheers Ben

The thing I love about this pen swap are the connections we make.

That is the main reason I decided to do the swap again,
We have pairings from all over the world and both this year and last year I was lucky enough to have one of my swap partners live less then an hours drive away and we had the chance to catch up in person, which I really enjoyed,
thanks again to Scott and his helpers for organizing ,
    cheers Ben

The finish is stunning ... CA I guess

Also got this bonus with it

Hope your parcel is not far away and the one to Qsld must be very close by now

Dave I am glad that you liked the pens. Yes the finish is CA. I liked the history of the American Chestnut tree I hope you have had the time to read up on it. Made a really nice pen. The swap was awesome and I look forward to receiving your parcel.

    Thanks again,

    Robert

    Default My Texas Swap Arrived

Well it actually arrived two weeks ago. I was very pleased to see the contents of the package that Edgar sent me. One could only dream of having some of this timber on land that you owned. I even got some Durlin rods to make bushings for doing CA finish. He sent me a beautiful pen made from Mesquite. I wish my pictures were half as good as the actual pen. Thank you for all of the extras. Have a great day all.
