Default My Pen From USA Swap partner John aka walshjp17

    Hi All,
As Title suggests here the pen and the rest of the contents of my parcel from John

The Pen is JR Gentleman's from Exotic Blanks and the blank is a piece of doubled dyed (green & yellow) Buckeye Burl,

The blank has figure which I couldn't seem to capture as good as it is in real life, and the more an more I look at it the more I like it,

I hope John likes his parcel as much as i liked mine

The blanks that came with it are as follows L-R,
2x Black Line Cypress, (as John has said maybe a fancy name for Spalted Cypress)
Bradford Pear, (has a massive sentimental value to John)
2x Flaming Box Elder (my Favorite)
and 2x Spalted Sycamore (has a lot of figure)
I cant wait to turn some really nice pens out of these blanks.

Default beedeejay Australia Day Pen Swap Haul

Found a box from Australia in the post today. Beedeejay's pen and some blanks were safely included. Ben sent me a fabulous postable Jr. Gent II from Timberbits wrapped in Hairy Oak. Sanded thru 600, 13 -15 coats of CA, wet sanded w/1200 and MM thru the grits and buffed with auto polish. The photos (even if they were better) cannot do justice to this fine writing instrument.

Included were a beautiful bunch of blanks (BBB) including my favorite Red Mallee Burl. Accompanying the RMB are Mango, Camphor Laurel, Australian Red Cedar, Huon Pine (do like this one as well), some small Red Collabah Burl blanks and a hunk of Hairy Oak from the same bunch that the pen came from.

Apologies for the photos, still trying to get the hang of this.

    WOW,
That was fast, they only went in the mail Wednesday or Thursday,(3-4th April),
I'm glad you like the pen I sent and I hope you can post some pics of some of the pens you make from the blanks, (the Mango blanks are from Mapleman's Magical Mango Stump)

    Cheers Ben

Here is the pen I made for Michael (mmoncur) in the USA. He mentioned in a post a while back that he was jealous of the timbers we have available in Australia (I think it was on one of my Silky Oak pens that he stated this??), so I decided to make him a silky oak Baron rollerball pen, and also sent some golden wattle blanks. I don't have photos of the blanks, but here is the pen.
Michael is currently traveling and has asked me to post these pics as he doesn't have access to them at the moment. Hope you like - and Michael too!

    Simon

Default My outstanding pen and box from Fortunato Amos De Pasquale

I recieved my pen from Amos today. What an supurb pen! I amhonoured to have received not only a pen crafted by Amos but named by him aswell. Amos has crafted an outstandingpen which he has named, The Northern Lights of Aurora Borealis, meaning “thedawn of the north”. The blanks he has used was cast by Jeff Powell (The MasterScroller) of the IAP, and the star was cut out by intarsia work. Amos includedsome awesome wood and acrylic blanks that i look forward to turning in the nearfuture.

My beautiful pen has arrived from Jeff in Indiana, along with some excellent blanks. many thanks Jeff. Jeff and I have been partnered before.

Jeff has received my pen but is having trouble loading it on the net, I only have a poor picture but have put it up for show. It is a Dayacom stretch rollerball with a blackboard blank containing mathematical equation as Jeff is a maths professor. Hopefully Jeff can load a better picture.

Very nice pen. Where did you get the blackboard blank? I, too, have a friend who is a maths professor.

    Don Vann strikes again.

I'm a bit behind getting this posted. While I was checking out the great packing material, my wife spotted the velvet pouch. She always tries to open my presents at Christmas. As she started to take it out, as she oood and awed about the colors, I snatched it away. She was trying to lay claim on it as I looked it over....As I uncapped it she exclaimed "Never Mind"...Saved aging by the fountain pen nib

Pictures don't do the pen justice. It's kitless and tubless..Exrtremely light. The changing colors are awesome...

Van got a chuckle out of that and pointed out that one of the blanks was a mate to the one he made my pen out of. So now I have to make her one...

    Thanks Van,

    Vic

PS..Van if you have better pics please post..

Default My Pen from Michael Moncur

Received my pen from Michael today, a beautifully crafted Streamline in Cocobolo with custom Centre band. In fact, my son was watching as I unpacked it, and because the centre band had Essendon colours he took a shine to the pen, so I customized it for him.!! Thanks Michael, Amos
