Started this morning at 945 and threw the varnish brush 1750 also involved a trip to my favourite home Timber and hardware shop for the mdf I used for the top and ends! It was a solid 8 hours!
Having a thicknesser and jointer helps!

    Nice one Chuck.
Surprised you didn't turn the uprights?
Or add a couple of decorative finials?

I did contemplate turning Legs but ran out of time to procure 4 by 4 all the frame work came out of an old bed and didn't have enough to glue up!
I even pinched the vice off a bench from the farm
now to try not to let it get covered in bits of stuff!

Your front vise intrigues me, Chuck. Can you expand on it a bit?

Pretty good effort for a single day - there are those here who've taken several years to get to the stage of putting a finish coat on their benches.....

    Cheers,

Thanks guys, the vice originally was setup with a square block going the same way as the threaded rod to support the the timber face, in stead of the square I turned a peice of vic ash. I'll take some photos and post tomorrow
vices are not my thing so it's probably set up wrong
