    Default Found some old pics.

    G'day again guys.

Firstly I'd like to thank you one and all for your continued support, especially given that I am, at this moment unable to go into the cause of my latest dilemma.
On a brighter note though, I was able to dig up some previously unposted pics of the slowest bench build in history.
What you see is my attempt to make use of every possible piece of space in/on the bench, and remembering that I work from ideas that spring to mind and if they seem doable then I run with it.
I think there's only one thing in my life that I did plan for and that was my marriage, which only took me 38 years to prove my planning skills still need work.
Ok....here are my early attempts at making 'secret' drawers or bins which will be accessed through the top of the bench. Each receptacle has its own drop in tray which is supported above their own sectioned bases. Considering that there are at least 3 different types of wooden material in any one drawer, I was pleased enough with an almost reasonable 'piston fit' of both trays.
You may also notice to the right of a couple of pics, my old B&D Workmate which I hacked into a much smaller version of its former self. At the moment, it has been removed due to my adding about another 300 mm to the front of the bench itself.
I've come a fair way since these pics were taken, so hopefully it won't take me another matter of months before I get them posted for your perusal.

    Cheers everyone,
    Bob

No need to rush from our point of view.

We all do things a little different and work at different paces. Thats just part of life.

"Hear hear" to Coffenup's sentiments Bob, great to see you up and about. Nice work on the bench compartments, keep us informed old mate.

    Default Thank You my Friends

Your kind words of encouragement have brought a tear to my eye.
While I should be in a far better place now that the events of the past few weeks are over and done with, I am unfortunately still reeling inside from the results.
I feel that I have lost everything that should give me a reason to keep on going, and I am finding it far too difficult to deal with the upheaval to my life as it was and now is.
I wake up every day and ask myself why is this time in my life such a miserable one.
I am at a loss to find a reason to go on.

    Bob

I have only just seen this thread, and read it from first post to last. Firstly, I want to say thank you, for both the bench build progress (always good to see someone taking as long as you with a bench build - mine's still purely theoretical, and has been for four years so you're not doing badly, all things considered!) and for how open and honest you have been about struggles in other areas of your life. It takes a lot of courage to talk about your inner demons, and many - most? - suffer in silence. Just knowing other people go through the same thing and somehow carry on somehow normalises it. It also helps in the creation of support networks like this one. Such a fantastic forum and such standup members. So thank you all as well. There's many a time when a tearlet has glistened in the corner of my eye on reading some of the contributions here - often looking wistfully at some of the tools ;-) - and it restores one's faith in humanity. And timber.
