More clamping stuphph
Woz looking at my bench the other day. I've had it for about 20 years but never really been happy with it.
The vise is a mongrel ( I've posted about it before ) and it just doesn't have the versatility I have always craved.
So I have decided to modify it ( read re-build ).
The cramping and clamping will be a big part of the modifications and from the depths of my mind came the name
"Lightning Clamp"!! They are a good idea with a couple of minor flaws that could be overcome.
The worst aspect of them that I see is the perhaps needless length of the projection for the "handle" to tighten the
clamp.
Another potential problem is marking of the surface of your job by the screw thread. This could be easily overcome
the use of cardboard, MDF or felt.
Have any of you forumites had any experience with this clamping system?? Australian made, by the way.
