Yeah, it's interesting to compare my bench with Groggy's. You can see they are two quite different solutions to the workbench. There will be some similarities in vice configuration. I have a feeling groggy's might be a tad prettier when it's done.
Shoulder. Hmmm. I love the idea of undercutting them. I usually do on my furniture. The joinery on this is so massive, (tenons 100x60x20mm), I'm using my circ saw to cut it. I've gone through and tested the joints, two are slightly off, but I don't want to undercut it as I would have to shorten it to fix it. Rock and a hard place. The tenons going into the top were the worse, I've cleaned them up with a chisel today. As the top and the base won't be glued together I've rounded over the shoulder and the top, this means that any subtle gap is lost as the two round overs meet.My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

I don't know Groggy I think you're trying to through us of the scent, you are obvously get assistance from your Labrajoiner. More paws make light work. Paw - poor Dan is still wrestling dirty nappies.

Personaly I liked the "Labrajointer" I'm a bit over Labradoodles and the like, give a dog a real job. No more chasing sheep and silly cows, give the dog a saw. Oh Christos, we're on a down hill slide. Sorry guys.

Glue ups are always the most stressful part. I glued the front stretcher to the front legs, the back to the back. Then one side, then the other. Got there in the end. A few wipes of the brow and blows of the mallet. I used the rachet straps to make it square, simple really.
Some of the joints aren't as tight as I would like, but it was such a tricky glue up, best I could do. You're always your worse critic. Well I am at least. My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

Taking shape, ratchet straps are great for squareing up, I often use them on my tables to get the diagonals pulled in. Hmm like you I am never happy with what I make, when you do it to make money there are always time constraints. While I would never send out something I am not happy with there are always things you could spend more time on.

Well done. It looks like a few of the pegs took quite a hammering!
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Undercarriage is together and first coat of oil. I still have a little shaping to do (mitering the round overs) but this can be done later. I'm not planning on gluing the top to the base. The shear weight of it should keep it in place.
Now just need to get some mates around to help flip it.

Fantastic! Not one, but four small work surfaces and such a large and flat base too. Brilliant!
But seriously, this is an engineering masterpiece. I have a qty of blackbutt in the garage with a head full of similar ideas. And thats about as far as I've got so far. Nice to someone actually do it.
Good luck with the flip!
Cheers,
Virg.

Coming along at a great rate of knots, I think my money is on you over Groggy and the Labrajointer, obvously the mutts not pulling her weight. Yell out if you need a hand with "the flip" I think you're in Newcastle somewhere?
