There's some fine tuning to go... and I need to clean up the slots in the spike section... But I now have a smooth rolling sliding leg...

I have a little tidying up to do. Then the sliding leg is ready for finishing.

I'm not going to install the vice until the bench is complete to ensure that everything is at the correct height and spacing.

Some of you may remember I was looking for someone to turn the handles required for the bench. Old Pete answered the call. The timber is Australian Blackwood.

    Nice job!
    .
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

I am still struggling with the concept of how this works, Loving your work though. And looking forware to seeing the whole bench when finished.

    Default Progress...

Using a circ saw, straight edge, square, hammer, chisel, no 5 plane... I cut the tenons on the legs. (The delay was due to the 100 changes of height in the plan... and waiting for a vesper square to arrive... and my using the $3 one in the end.)

Also, I pulled the shelf apart to re-sand and oil the parts individually.

Coming together nicely now Boz. Can't wait to see it all together and in operation.

How do you turn the monster over mate?
