As I was posting it occurred to me you would lose cupboard space. Maybe only two cupboards.

How about having each machine mounted onto a board, with a pipe hinge at the rear edge. The bench has a continuous pipe of suitable OD to fit the hinge pipes ID and run the full length of the bench, approx mid way from front to back, between suitable height brackets. The machines are then able to be tilted up and down individually for use. A super clean area is not as critical as it would be for runners if the front edge of the machine bases had a built up edge and the brackets for the bench mounted pipe were set to the same height. Even if this was only 16mm it would mean a bench load of shavings could be left in place with just the front edge of the bench cleared for the front edge of the base being lowered.
I imagine a couple of bits of pipe would be a lot cheaper than runners.

I think a combination of separate carts, housing two tools on flip tops, with storage below might just be the best of all worlds!

    Like this perhaps - https://youtu.be/CCjpQen3LqQ
