    Hi Franklin,

yep you're correct about the problem with benches being too thick but that's overcome by having a larger hole coming up an inch or so from the underside. My problem was that I had 2 drills with spade bits in them and yes I grabbed the one with a 22mm bit. The holdfasts I have work but I have to wrap a bit of tape around the shaft to make them stick. The new ones will be thick enough to work in the holes I've drilled.

You could always plug them and redrill them.

yeah, I thought about doing that but it's easier to get a mate to make me new ones, and like everyone these days I'm time poor and just want to finish it. Thanks for the input

Been away fishing for a bit and recently got back home. Finished off the drawers today and still a lot of work to fix them up but happy with how it's turning out. Looking forward to actually using it instead of building it 😉

Looking great! Lots of features to enjoy.

I had a lot of tearout with my ironbark bench too. It's not laminated though so it wasn't bad enough to require putty/filler.

    Good work!
