Zac, the handwheel is excellent. The momentum from one medium strength spin will move the face about 15-20mm. That may not seems like much, but I reckon that takes in the vast majority of face movement required. To move it out full distance or thereabouts I will just put a short timber stick into the corner of the spoke and gi' it a whirl. You can use your finger but it's a bit rough
The handwheel cost ~$100-110 posted direct to Terry from D&D Barry (they have hundreds of different handwheels. The on I have is DIN 950 GG 160 V12 A which is a bit over 1 kg. For the spin I think 1.5 kg or so would be about right (180mm dia), but Terry wasn't comfortable with it staying within the failsafe limit (i.e. it might break the failsafe too easily).
