It will be heavier soon I have a sheet of 12mm Ply to go on top , I have not weighed it yet, but I can push it around very easily
I will take the scales out sometime before I fit the top
I am now wondering if I should centre the top on the base and make a sliding deadman ??
I am just not sure and need to think, on the plus side it will give me a better centre of gravity

OK I had a bad night with pain so slept all today I will not use power tools on Sundays as I do not want to annoy my Neighbours (might make a post in the general thread about how people handle that problem ?)
I have decided as the Bench top only over hangs ~130mm It is not worth centring, as this will help make the CG better with the weight of the front face vice (yes it will move closer to that end, but width wise it will make it more central)

I have finished the top including the sacrificial surface, bolted the top to the front rail and mounted the vice
I now have the back to bolt down, I need to make some buttons.
Seal it with a polyurethane finish.
Drill Dog Holes (I need the bit that is on order)
I need to also work out my draws, I am going to put 8 draws in the space bellow the table between the legs. I am hoping to design these tonight so I can buy some materials tomorrow and make them tomorrow. I am going to use 12mm ply for the end plates, 16mm MDF for the internal support (the ply I have is not flat enough to use without a frame to keep it true) then the draws will be 6mm MDF sides, 6mm bottom that is routed in I am going to use finger holes to open the draws and reduce the cost (I am using proper roller draw guides.
I have attached two photos of the Bench I will put the finish on before I drill the holes so that I do not get the polyurethane in the dog holes

It's looking quite good. That's a nice, solid top. Just don't stand on the back edge.
I see you decided to put the front pocket-holes on the outside. Easier access, when the drawers are in place, I guess?... Steve

OK today was a no work day, I had to go visit my gran in hospital and picked up some stuff to make the drawers (runners and wood) I still need to get some more screws as I am going to screw into the side of the draw walls instead of the bottom
I am making the draws out of 12mm ply for the outer frame sides, the centre member (the runner support between the two columns of drawers) is 16mm MDF. The top and the bottom are 3mm MDF (just to hold the central support in place and stop shavings etc going through the dog holes landing in the top draws
The draws themselves are 9mm MDF which will be finger jointed, the base is 3mm White MDF, I am routing a 3mm x 4mm deep channel around the bottom 7mm from the bottom to the bottom of the groove for the bottom to sit in (I am then cutting the base short ~1.5mm in each direction to allow for expansion)
I am using a 25mm router bit to make a 1/2 moon in the middle of the top of each front to be a finger slot so I can open the draw
Attached is the PDF
