How Many Mistakes........
Before one becomes a member of the Dead Donkey club???
Took the vise ofr my bench as I intend to make a Moxoxn Vise. Forgot to put something under to hold the weight and one bolt lug broke off!!
Easy fixed with a bit of brazing later, but avoiding the problem would have been preferable.
Decided to put some drawers Under the bench to make life easier. Made a frame with runners and put it in place. Didn't allow for the outer rail thickness!!!
Not a great worry but again the mistake could have been done without!!
Hope I measure the drawer parts correctly!

Hi Artme,
We all continue to learn from our mistakes. Good luck from here on. I was told as an apprentice if you have never made a mistake you have never learned anything and you never stop learning.
Regards Rod.

Must be something in the air round here, Artme. I've made some of the silliest mistakes I've ever managed, this week. For example, I was fitting a saw blade into its handle, which involved rounding the end of the blade. I was just about to mark out & drill the holes in the plate when I realised I'd rounded the wrong end - I was on the verge of making a pull saw! I decided to make the blunder a feature, and rounded both ends, so I now have a saw that looks a bit like the old Disston D9.
Somedaysweeks are like that.....
Cheers,IW

Two of the five drawers are made and they fit!!
It's always a bugger to add bits afterwards. Much easier to do when doing the job in the first instance!

I have heard people learn by their mistakes. Well maybe but I seem to invent new ones all the time.
Just now I discovered that my big Makita router does have a fine adjuster on the fence. This after using the thing for 12 months! I have no idea why I did not see it first day.
Making errors is bound to happen when you are a hobbyist. We mostly make one off items and even the best craftsman will make errors under those conditions. My age is still less than my number of posts

I don't make mistakes. Where I come from they are called "blues". I make plenty of blues.

Between my work today and my language as I realised what I had done I think I managed every shade of blue......
