3 top sections glued. There is a slight 1mm hump in the middle of the bench. Nothing 3 swipes of a jointer plane wont fix.

At the moment the plan is to make the majority of the bench from Blackbutt.
I am looking for opinions on what might be a nice contrast for the endcaps where the dovetails will be. Alternatively let me know if I should leave the majority of the timber Blackbutt. I say majority as I recognise that there is a least one section of tallow wood in the top.

    Good progress PM.

Just as a suggestion for some contrasting timber - I got some very nice red hardwood from one of the two timber places in Lawson (perhaps you recall the end caps on my bench....or not).Actually not too long a haul (as you know) because you could follow on to machine it either here or at Andy's.

Btw the link to the "barn raising team" is actually a link to a saw vise at TFWW.

A lady that I work with has some lengths of dry hardwood under her house that she has offered me so I will look at what's on offer and see what fits the bill as it's the right price.

Yes it is not too late as I am not at the full width yet. Rectangular dogs for me. Doing the dog holes soon like this bloke using a similar method.
Cut a strip off a length, rout out dogs on the rest of the length using the template at 2 degrees. Stick it back together making sure to put it the right direction.
    Let's see how that goes.
