Bench Top Glued
Got the top glued up at the weekend. Didn't take any pictures of it clamped up .
Came up pretty good, not cupped at all, I alternated the joined sides on the jointer the last run over just to make sure it would not cup (hope that makes sense).
The glue up wasn't as good as the original mockup so a bit of planing to be done but i'm happy with the way it came together.

Do you have a friend with a WIDE BELT SANDER??? It would save a lot of sweat, if not a 125mm random orbital disc sander with 40 /60# disc will remove a lot of stock reasonably quickly, then work through the grits to 120/180 for a final finish.
Of course this is dependent on how well the planks remained in alignment.
If you only have to remove the Glue the disc sander will do it in short order, I did the lounge and hall floor with my Bosch PEX 400, although I nearly melted the wife's vacume cleaner, in the process

Going to flatten both sides but obviously not too concerned about the bottom. Would be lucky to be .5mm at the worst on the top side and only 2 sections so will hit it with a plane to get it close and then the ROS. A couple of years ago I picked up a festo 125mm ROS ($25 + the price of a new pad), have used it but not worked it out, this will change that. Unfortunately don't know anybody with a wide belt sander.

If it's as close as .5mm in the worst spots, a well-tuned plane should have it level in no time, with no noise (apart from some heavy breathing, perhaps ) and virtually no dust.
Cheers,
(from someone who loathes sanders of all types...)IW
