Replacement Workmate
After 40 something years my old B&D workmate is in need of replacement. As far as I can see, B&D now supply a new model, WM536 in Australia which looks similar to my existing workmate, though possibly a little flimsier.
I also see that Bunnies stock a couple of Ryobi knock-offs and wondered if anyone has any insight into their relative merits.
In addition to the usual clamping & sawing etc, I also use the workmate as one support for a working platform from time to time, so sturdiness is a factor for me.
There doesn't seem to be a huge difference in price so that is not a issue. I'm more interested in fitness-for-purpose.
Any thoughts?

Ryobi has a single working height only.

Bunnies advertise two Ryobi models. One of them has adjustable height but appears to use a different mechanism to B&D for their 2-height arrangement.
The problem with my old workmate is that it has lost some rubber feet and the plastic "springs" that hold the feet in place are either broken or liable to break soon, I suspect. I know I can get replacements from B&D but I did this a few years ago and the cost of spares was rather high - makes me think it may be time for a new one.
The jaws have a few battle scars but are not too bad. I could live with them and I know it's possible to replace them.

because your not in my area I'll suggest the following....gumtree or your local facebook buy swop sell pages. I now have 4 of the B&D ones. 1 I got free and replaced the 2 work boards and a day with WD 40. works fantastic.
although dont type workmate....there a lot of utes out there..I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

Are these the 'springs'?

if you know someone with a 3D printer, there are quite a few Workmate parts models available.

They are the springs. You can get them as spare parts but they are expensive.
I would buy a few if someone is printing a batch. Those were the droids I was looking for.
