Had to go to Geelong today for the Deakin University Open day so I didn't get a lot done. I've prepared six or seven patches underneath the top because of rot or damage that will interfere with clamps or dog holes.
There are also about fifteen nail holes to plug with dominos but they are pretty quick to do. I found a gum vein just near the end I thought I'd better plug too, that was about 250mm long. Sample shown below. I started using routers then went back to hand tools once the majority of the muck was cleared out.

Yes, but barely! I was curious about how much the bench will weigh when complete so I came up with the following rough weights:
250kg Top
190kg Base
15kg wagon vise
25kg leg vise
61kg clamps (20 x 3.2kg)
4kg holdfasts
545kg
For those from the old school;
551lb Top
419lb Base
33lb wagon vise
55lb leg vise
134lb clamps (20 x 3.2kg)
6lb holdfasts
1201 lbs

You had better bolt that down to the floor. Don't want a stray gust to flip it over I think it weighs more than my wifes car.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Looking good. Let me know if you need an extra pair of hands to flip the top. No point in having a damaged back when you have a great bench like that to work on.
cheers

That's very kind of you Horaldic, I'll bear it in mind, especially when the next glue-up is done, end caps attached and the wagon vice is put in.

Half-tonne bench... the mind boggles. I don't think you'll even be able to buy castors to move on. I tell you what I do have; a spare 1.8litre engine, transmission and steering assembly.
