Hehehe. I have to admit that while I was doing it, it FELT like woodwork. Not to sound like a complete hippy twit, but feeling the grain and the fibres being cut, move and come away as I was working was MUCH more enjoyable and, dare I say it, relaxing, than using machinery. No doubt my lack of patience will soon see an end to that, but it was most pleasureable while it lasted

Long time, no post, so just a little update...
Not much going on with the bench. I hit a bit of a financial hurdle...brick wall really...and can't afford the timber for all the stretchers and aprons to be able to finish it. Hopefully I'll be back on track in a month or two.

We'll still be here Ensign Ricky.
I know what you mean by "it FELT like woodwork". I thoroughly enjoy my hand tool only days in the shed. I now try to use hand tools in preference to machines where I can.
Although my jointer and thicknesser worked flat out on Sunday dressing 6" x 2" recycled hardwood. Hand tools are fun, but no sense in killing yourselfThose were the droids I was looking for.
