New, Small Workbench
I picked up a new workbench a couple of days ago. It's only a little one as I don't have much room.

Oh...and it's in kit form
Now I just need to find someone with a combination jointer/thicky, who lives nearby and has freshly sharpened blades/inserts in the cutting head.....hmmmmThose were the droids I was looking for.

Tony, I hope you use the machine and leave piles of shavings in that person's shed!

And the young lad in question would be very happy to be rolling around in the shavings left on his floor.

Just go around to his place and use his gear, he isn't home at the moment, and if you leave the place spotless, he will never know that you have been there. Alternatively, leave a bit of mess, and he will blame one of the cats.

I did consider that Al, but the cats guard the shed ferociously. ....Although ..if I take some tins of sardines and place them down the back of the yard while I rappel in from a helicopter......

Oh that's very good timing and very helpful of the Fence lad(?) to offer this service to a fellow forum member.

I ran the metal detector over the kit pieces today. Just to double check. Lucky I did

And here's some legs and other bits.

Paid a visit to the Blue Mountains community shed and den of iniquity today. (AKA Brett's place) Got all the timber dressed and ready to cut to length. The Hammer A3-31 made short work of this pile of timber and took a fraction of the time I would have taken with my old jointer and thicknesser.

I have to say, the service at the community shed was excellent. While I worked, dressing the timber, the proprietor plied me with coffees, food and beer. I give it and and I will go back for sure.
The prices were reasonable as well. Those were the droids I was looking for.

Of course you do realise that there IS a bench building precedent? You now need to store the timber for 5 years........

Mumph. Might hafta pull back on the service a tad then. P'raps sour milk in the (really weak) coffee with no sugar, or raw eggs instead of almost hard boiled - just for (my) fun you know (still with S&P though, but in a slightly more containing bowl - don't want no spillage in the shed, at least the 3 remaining chips were able to be found...and it only took 20 minutes or so).
Then of coarse, there is the old d*ck in the beer gag......if I offer you beer in a glass then....be afraid......
