Ornamental lathe
Hi Wheelinaround,
Yes it makes me wish even more strongly that I were 30 instead of a bit more than twice that number. Without an instruction manual it might take me 10 years to work that little number out but I daresay that another couple of hours wasted (invested) on the WWW could cast some light on this one. Nice find on E bay Wheelinaround !!
Cheers Old Pete

Pete there are two such machines at Sydney Powerhouse Museum at The Castle Hills Annex under wraps of course buried away so no one gets to see them.
It took OTGA's president some years before he and two other members gained access. this after having to write the then Premier Bob Carr.
There is a collection of such in New Zealand at The Lynn Woodworking Museum just south of Christchurch.
They can't be that hard to learn to use Kings and Queens of the period bought them.

Instruction manual is here: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f22/in...ressie-110464/
Location is Rhode Island USA. A bit beyond my budget, though.

Thanks wheelin and I hope to do just that in coming days. I have recently taken photos of my machine. The third ornamental unit I have made and I believe I have all the bugs out. The sliderest is just great. Four inch universal cross slide converted to operate like Holtz and Evans. All backlash in leadscrew eliminated.
I will try to include my entry for the Box competition that for one reason or another was not included for judging.????
Cheers
Edwards
