Default 150mm dust pipe and fittings

For sale are some 150mm DWV pipe fittings and 4m of 150mm flex hose. Fittings are 1x Y join, 1x 150-100mm reducer and 2x 45 degree bends. Flex hose fits nicely inside the joiners with only tape to hold together.

$100 pickup from Modbury North SA.

    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
Would you consider $80 pickup for everything?

I was going to build a big 150mm system, but the simplicity of 100mm, plus the fact I managed to get the machines close to the dust than I first through, won out.

I'm about to embark on exactly the same - 100mm PVC. I've got a run of the mill dust collector which has a 2HP motor which I've seen guys use to out to 4-5 machines and seems to work OK.

Appearances can be very deceptive. Try flying that assumption over in the Dust Extraction forum to get some well informed input on that...

A stock 2HP with 100mm ducting will pick up chips but won't pick up the unhealthy fine dust at source and hence leave behind considerable quantities of fine dust behind in the shed.
The main culprit in this combo is the 100mm ducting.
If you have a look in the dust forum there's a sticky that shows how to convert a 2HP to make use of 150mm ducting, you also have to do the same to machinery ie open the dust ports up to 150 mm.
Note, this only works for short ducting runs so its not real able to service a large shed.

An alternative solution is to add forced ventilation to continually remove fine dust. By this I mean add fans that exhaust shed air at a target rate of 20 room air changes per hour. This is not easy to achieve (especially for large sheds) but any forced ventilation is better than none.

For a small shed where the DC and 100 mm ducting are already installed its usually easier/cheqper to fit forced ventilation, but for bigger shed.

The other major thing to do is to make sure your DC is located either outside the shed, or in an air tight enclosure inside the shed, that vents directly outside the shed.
