You might find the speed control dial needs a clean with compressed air or a can of "Electrical clean and lube". Old audio gear suffers from oxidisation of the potentiometers and with yours it may be the same.

I was given one of these routers. People talk about bypassing the speed controller on the Triton TRA001. You can buy a new speed controller here:
Tool Spares Online. SPEED CONTROLLER 240V which if I can't get mine working will likely buy a new controller.
