Charles & Hunting Precision Mortiser
Hi All,
I have for sale a Charles & Hunting Precision Mortiser.
This is a four speed machine fitted with a ½” (13mm) good quality English Jacobs chuck.
It can clamp up to 4.5” (115mm) square timber and the table traverses 6” (150mm).
The machine takes standard ¾” chisels.
This is a beast of a machine, it’s solid cast iron and incredibly rigid.
It's an old Melbourne made machine and while it looks a bit agricultural it is in excellent condition with all slides smooth and tight with no play whatsoever.
This is not a toy, it’s is a serious mortiser that will suit the most demanding woodworker.
Motor is single phase ¾ H.P.
Asking $700.00 or nearest offer.
This is a very heavy machine and while it can be disassembled a little bit it’s still fairly large so it needs to be picked up with a ute or a trailer.
Mortiser is located in Fawkner, northern suburbs of Melbourne.
I’m only offering it on the Woodwork and Metalwork forums at the moment but if it doesn’t sell within a week it will go in ebay.
Please ask any questions or PM for contact details or to arrange an inspection.
Cheers,
Greg.

This is a great mortiser. I picked up one of these a while back, in not as great condition, but works really well. It's awesome to see what a 'fully decked out' version looks like.

If you were in SA, it'd be sold already
