Default HORIZONTAL CUT BANDSAW 16 March 2018.

Recently made horizontal cut bandsaw. 13hp "Chonda' engine, has run probably less than 10 hours. Vee belt drive to saw wheels.
Clearance between the adjustable blade guides about 600mm.
Will cut to 2.5m (max) in length, would cut more if bed rails were extended.
Rise and fall via hand crank, 10 turns = 25mm thickness.
Bed has multi function log holding options. Has detachable blade safety guard.
    Blade length 4480mm, Bi-Metal, 34mm width, TPI x 1.3, currently about $87.00
Feed thru log is by winch and 4mm cable.
Unit works satisfactorily but could be improved.
Asking $3,000 as is, where is. Will assist with dismantle and loading, delivery possible within reasonable distance from Inverell.

    Warning:
Bandsaw product (slabs) need to be stored (aired) for about 12 months.
    Reason for selling:
I've run out of storage room and deteriorating physical health dictates I quit this sort of activity.

I was interested enough in this saw to go and have a look.

Warren has made a very good job of the build, although as he said there is some room for improvements without too much effort. Although I did not buy it I felt I owed it to other people to offer to post some pix. So here goes:

I will show some more pix in a second post as multiple pix seem to confuse my computer.

Some more pix for you. I have included the detail pix as warren had paid particular attention to detail:

In the previous post you can see that the saw is advanced by a winch. Simple.

My take is that the money Warren is asking is considerably less than the cost of the parts. The mill was demonstrated to me. The motor is powerful and it cut cleanly and well. Personally I would look at the method of securing the logs, but that is a small hurdle to overcome. This saw is ideal for somebody wishing to process their own logs, but arguably not on a commercial scale. This size of bandsaw does not produce a high volume of timber, but probably more in a week than a dozen enthusiastic woodworkers could cope with in a year.

So why didn't I buy it? I was looking for another mill to supplement that which I have down in NSW. There were two problems: Firstly it really needs to be under a sheltered area such as a carport or similar and I don't have that. The second was that I wanted to transport it around and this mill is better suited to a fixed location. It would not be difficult to transport, but it is not portable in the accepted sense of the term.
