    Default Lathe Depth Gauge

Just finished making a depth gauge for the lathe (over the years I've made too many bowls where I've gone too deep and ended up wasting usually expensive and often unique timber) and made a second one while I was set up. Like all my tools I like them to look good as well as being functional. The timber is 1/4 sawn Jarrah and the fittings are brass.
Price is $40 and happy to post anywhere in Australia (~$8.50 standard or $11.50 express)

    Very nicely made Dave,
I do agree nice looking tools are so much nicer to use.
Did you make the brass fittings or are they brought.

    Cheers Matt,

No don't have a metalworking lathe, so have to buy the thumbscrews and then drill and tap into the brass strip that I glue along the bottom edge

    Bloomin' gorgeous!

I want one... but I'll have to wait a while as it's "that time of year" when funds are scarcest.

Just a thought... it appears the beam is about the same length as the rod? Given any thought to drilling the length of the beam so the rod can be stored inside? That'd make the unit easier to store and also give the rod a modicum of protection when not in use.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Yeah Jarrah and brass go really well together. Drop me a line whenever you're ready.
Like the idea of storing the rod inside, will have a play with the next one to see if I can squeeze it past the clamping tube
    Cheers
    Dave
