Forgot to mention there are 2 additional belts with the machine, 80 and 120 grit.

It's identical to the Jet one I have as well (surely they all came out the same factory, only the paint job differs so far as I can tell), and is a fantastic and extremely useful machine!

I'm absolutely amazed it hasn't been snapped up already!

I bought the Big Boy version, secondhand, several years ago.

Probably the most used machine in my shed.

Great for cleaning up a sawn edge, shaping curves, refining butt or mitred joints and even rounding edges.

Someone will grab this and be very happy.

I wondered why the OP was being so coy about posting actual photos of the Woodman sander - just one picture of a packing crate - so I did some digging.

Just for clarification this is the original machine that was sent to me:
Woodman Pro ES689 Oscillating Edge Sander | Woodworking Machinery

And this was the replacement machine:
Woodman PRO ES699/1 Edge Sander - Gregory Machinery

The second one is the one I originally ordered but they sent the first one as they were out of stock.

The 689 (first machine) was a POS, vibrated and very loud. The 699 (second machine) is a much better machine but unfortunately it has the twisted platen same as the first.

I think the moral of the story here is just don’t buy from Gregory and you might get some satisfaction.

jonsey, did you get a refund for goods-not-fit-for-purpose from Gregory Machinery? Are you now trying to offload that lemon onto an unsuspecting Forum member?

I note that your attempt to sell it on Gumtree failed.

    Hi Graham

Let me clear this up. The machine was replaced by Gregory but the replacement is exactly the same in regards to vibration and platen twist. From my chats to Gregory they are all like this, I just have too high of expectations apparently.

Gregory didn’t want the machine back, not sure why probably because they are just too useless to organise freight.

I decided to keep the replacement machine even though it has the same issues. Am selling this one because because it was boxed back up it’s too hard to deal with Gregory.

Any serious buyer can have my phone number and I will explain the issues. So up to you, go buy a new one for $1700 which will probably be just the same or have this one with 2 extra belts for $800. Hardly see how I’m ripping anyone off, if it was perfect it would be slightly less than new price.

Given the machines history, is it still covered for a warranty?

Would you accept a courier of my organising to collect it?

Edit - hang on, I just read the comments above and the post. Is it the "first" 689 you are selling here, not the "replacement" 699? So you got to keep this machine (for essentially, free), while being sent a replacement, now you are selling the first one?

Correct, selling the first one keeping the second one. Essentially I got it for free, but hardly considering both machines are sub par in my mind. Would have rather just payed for one decent machine and been done with it.

No idea why they never collected it, has been sitting in my shed for 4 months now and I want it gone. I would say due to my complaining I got put in the too hard basket.

The machine is serviceable, it can still do most jobs you would use it for. Just can’t sand a long tall edges flat, which is unfortunate being an edge sander…

The second one they sent was the next size up machine which does seem a better build but unfortunately also has the twisted platen.

If you would like to call to discuss, send a pm and I will give you my phone number.

I'm interested - are you able to get a quote for shipping to Vic 3340? (No forklift at my end so they'll need a tailgate)

Is the platen an i-beam style one? (Looking at repair options)

    Hi Bitslong

I will let the buyer organise freight, no forklift on my end either. Pickup location Rockhampton QLD 4701.

The platen is 3mm or 4mm plate folded into a C section with a a few stiffening gussets welded inside. All that needs to be done is strip down the platen, tack weld or clamp one end to a heavy bench and clamp or tack weld a long piece of bar to the other end and twist.
