    Default Rapier #043 Plough Plane

For sale is a Rapier #043 plough plane. This is the smallest true plough plane available. It is extremely useful for small work, such as grooving drawer sides.

    It comes with 3 original blades: 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" ...

The Rapier is almost identical to the Record #043, but is a better built and finished plane than the Record (I have both planes).

I am guessing when I estimate that it is about 50 years old. It is in excellent condition, with all finish intact and no rust. The blades are sharp and the plane is capable of excellent work. I used this particular one for about 10 years.

Here it is cutting a 1/8" groove in Jarrah ...

It is also possible to extend the use of the #043 to rebates using the Veritas plough ("plow") blades. Here is a 3/8" wide rebate ...

Note that the Veritas blade is not included. This is just an illustration of the potential of this solid little plane.

Taken from a review I wrote a decade ago ... the #043 is extremely comfortable to hold and nestles in the palm ...

    Dimensions: 5 1/2" in length and about 1 1/4lbs.

Price: $120 (excluding postage). Payment by direct deposit. Contact me with a PM.

    Regards from Perth
