Hi miccmg,
I haven't heard back from poundy since I posted the pictures.
I don't know what the correct protocol is in this situation but he has had a day since the posting of the pictures so my guess is that you are the purchaser. I'll just check with the moderator.
Cheers

not sure theres a protocol on this at all But for accuracy in timing, you posted at 3:25pm Sunday about the pics, and 10:32am Monday responding to the other person.... not "a day" well not a full one anyway
I'm happy to take it based on the pictures. Also I am not worried if you want to discuss with mods/micmcg and I don't end up with it as I am not local to you (Sutho based).

I'll leave it up to D-Type to make the call on who the purchaser is. 👍

Dear All,
Moderator has said the winner is Poundy so I will send him a DM.
If he has changed his mind micmcg is second.
And it he has changed his mind the moderator will take it.
What I didn't know was that by adding the pics as an edit to the original posting meant that Poundy was not necessarily notified of the posting of the pics.
Cheers

Hi D-Type
I have several record planes I am cleaning up, can you tell me details of the paint you used on the No 07 it looks like a good match for the original blue.
And do you have something parked in your garage I should be very jealous of ?
Thanks. Rick

Record Blue Matching Paint and a Plane painting tip
I am sorry to say that I have no idea what the blue is for "Record Blue". Some Paint Shops and spray painters have devices that can match a paint. Why not give them a try.
The reason i have no idea is that, whilst picked it up second hand I don't think it had been used. After spending hours and hours fettling it and sanding off the all the machine marks and basically doing what Veritas and Lie Nielsen do at the factory I picked up a Stanley No 7 pre war with the flat frog face at half the price of the Record 7. The boss thinks that a 4 and a 6 are duplicates so the chance that 2 Sevens would survive scrutiny are slim. On the other hand I could have tried "well this one is Black and that one is Blue" but didn't like my chances.
TIP
To Keep paint out of the bolt holes.
Find a bolt or screw that has a smaller diameter than the hole. Wrap Painters tape or Plumbers tape around the bolt or screw so that it is just tight in the hole. Jam it into the hole. Now you can paint all of it without getting paint into the thread or damaging the thread.
Cheers

Jealousy Tools
Jealous probably a little like beauty in the eye of the beholder.
I have to say the tool that in Australia that probably most Australian woodworkers will never get to use is my Mafell track saw. In Europe Festool is for people who can't afford Mafell. I have not seen a single review that does not rate the Mafell as seriously superior to the Festool. There is only one criticism which all make and that is the price. If your a "Hand Tool Only" guy there will not be the slightest envy but if your a Festool track saw only feel free to turn green [Festool green or any other shade of green] with jealousy.
If this was a "what are you planing to sell" question. I'll be posting a Stanley 41/2, a 6 and an unrestored vintage American made cast bench vise [machinist not woodworker]. There will be other tools the move necessitates a painful culling.
Cheers

D-Type. I was thinking more along the lines of something with 4 wheels and British Racing Green in colour

It’s called BS381C 110 “Roundel Blue” and the colour codes are available here:
Lab, RGB, CYMK and HLC Values for BS381C 110 - Roundel blue from the BS 381C colour range
It was offered as a paint colour by Rolls Royce so you can get SuperAutoCheapBarn to mix it for you.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.
