You need to work on some "advanced skills".

    - bring it home and sprinkle with dust an per normal procedure.

    - remove all the covers and guards and be seen poking around inside it.

    - tell her that you are trying to find out why it is so noisy now.

    - reassemble and use, explaining that you still don't know where the noise is coming from but at least it is working properly.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

This should probably be made a "sticky" under the heading of general marriage & workshop advice?

The other thing I would add is to generally set a low standard and try to maintain it, that way everything you do earns bonus points!

    cheers, Ian

Please amend the quote listed above to read:

    - reassemble and use, explaining that you still don't know where the noise is coming from but at least it is working properly and so long as she is prepared to put up with the noise, you will not need to buy another one.

I had to develop survival strategies when my wife was alive. She must be in Heaven now because if she went to Hell I am sure the change of management would have been world-wide news.

Before the wedding the future wife and mother in law were wonderful but they showed their true colours from the end of the ceremony.

My Girlfriend of 17 years is great so I am not taking the risk of marrying her in case she goes mad like my wife and MIL did.

My survival skills are no longer needed and would probably be lost forever if I did not pass them on to those who need them through the forum.
