And to make matters worse this one was left standing dead with the smaler branches cut off for over 2 years. yes it is cracked and badly but I am sure I will be able to get something out of it. At least it cost me nothing other than a few minutes to chop it off and put it in the trailer.
Since so much damage has already been done i doubt that milling it now would be the right way to go, might be better to let it run its course then cut it in the way that is likely to produce the best yield. Hopefully I will get some decent boards but at the worst case there's always pen blanks.
Thanks for the advice though, Len, I will remember that if i get a fresh log in the future.
