Hi Mapleman,
my understanding it is an English Elm that was planted well over 100 years ago.
Cheers,

Certainly some premium timber to be had there Paintman!
English Elm was/is used extensively in Tall Ships for traditional wooden sheave blocks for the running rigging. Possibly make contact with a boatyard from down that way?
Cheers C.R.

Apologies to all this large log is English OAK . I should have listed this log as English Oak not Elm. It is from a local development and was originally planted by early settlers. My confusion was caused by a smaller log that was Elm from the same property but we have already cut that material.
Cheers,

Is this still available? I am in Traralgon I am interested but would need to find a saw miller to slab it for me. Are you willing to haggle on the price?

Hi Thumbsucker,
yes the log is still available and yes the price is flexible. It is certainly a very good quality log and will yield some excellent slabs.
Please PM me if you want to inspect.
Cheers,
Paintman
