Default Hardwood-Osage Orange For Sale

I have approx. 30 Osage Orange trees on my property which I will be cutting into various useable sizes, for sale.

This wood has extremely good characteristics for a variety of applications!
The Scientific name is Maclura Pomifera and there are several common names such as Osage Orange, Hedge Apple, Horse Apple, Bois D'Arc, Bodark or Bodock. It originated in Oklahoma, Texas and was used by Native Americans for making bows and war clubs.

Characteristics:
  • very hard wood, yet flexible
  • very stable wood
  • strong yellow-orange colour
  • heavy, close grained wood
  • extremely resistant to rot & termites
  • workable on a lathe
  • can achieve a very smooth, polished finish
Applications:
  • 'the best' timber for bow making (as in 'bows & arrows')
  • tool handles
  • musical instruments
  • knife handles
  • pen blanks
  • bowls
  • artistic pieces
  • tree nails
  • lace bobbins
  • fence posts or other outdoor uses
  • electrical insulators
My trees are up to 15 yrs old. Trunks range from approx. 80mm diameter up to 300mm diameter.

My plan is to cut them from the base, keeping the trunk in one piece, remove the branches and sort both trunks and branches into sizes. This could take a few weeks, but I can cut to order.

If interested, please call or sms Lincoln on 0417 503 156.
Price Today: $10 per Kilo (negotiable)

I live in Croydon Hills, Vic, but my trees are on my property in Nth Central Vic, near Shepparton. I will be harvesting the best sections first and bringing them down to Melbourne for a first in best dressed inspection and sale. If you give me your mobile number and some details about what you're after, I can keep you in the loop.

Cheers, Lincoln mob 0417503156

I will have photos and as much timber as I can fit in my 6x4 trailer in about 3 weeks. Sorry for the wait, but I'll be away until then.

Default Osage Orange - Bow Making

Hi Lincoln,
I am planning on making a bow and I was wondering how much it would cost for a piece approximately 1100mm tall, 200mm wide and 80mm deep?
Thank you,
Mockingjay

Hi Mockingjay. I can only provide a rough quote on a piece that size. It would require you to come and choose a piece that meets your needs. If it was the size you have requested it should be worth between $165 and $180 approx, but I am always willing to negotiate based on the quality of the piece you choose. I hope this info helps. The best thing is to come and inspect. I still have plenty and there will be more to come once this lot goes.

Default Price Slash on Osage Orange

Ok...plenty of people have shown genuine interest in my Osage Orange, but few have come to view or purchase. So, in the interest of moving it I am slashing the price from $10 p/kilo to $5 p/kilo. That's a great price for this quality hardwood.
My trailer is still 3/4 full. Four larger pieces (trunks) are straight and 5-6 feet long. Plenty of medium thickness branches straight or slight curve also. So come on all you bowyers, turners and artists.

If interested please call or sms 0417 503 156
Thanks, Lincoln
