I’ve been doing a bit of work with Huon Pine last week, and was only commenting to my wife yesterday how lucky our chickens are that they have Huon Pine lined nesting boxes! I’ve not noted our eggs tasting any different though.

A little while ago there was a mammoth thread on evaluating the best way to prepare eggs for peeling. Perhaps a test to compare eggs laid on Huon, Sassafras, Murtle etc. shavings would be of value.

When I was breeding poultry I used to use 90% pine shavings with about 10% camphor laurel shavings in the nest boxes. No problems with lice infestations or leg mites and no respiratory problems in the flock. Healthy hens lay tasty eggs.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.
