Default London Plane (Platanus x) 0.291 Cubic Meters

    Lovely quarter sawn London Plane.

I am downsize my collection and am selling almost all of my timber collection (European Oak, European Ash, Casuarina, Turning Blanks), plus tools, machines and more in the coming weeks. This is my first lot a collection of London Plane (Platanus x) milled from logs rescued from a housing estate near Warragul in Victoria almost 5 years ago. The logs were cut with a Lucas Mill with most being a mix of quarter sawn and rifts sawn boards. They have been under cover and dry for all this time.

I am located in Traralgon, Gippsland, and would prefer pickup or we could deliver to Melbourne for the cost of fuel and trailer hire.

Measurements listed are a few mm under actual dimensions.

    185 x 55 x 2500 (Quantity 4) - 0.102 cubic meters
    195 x 60 x 1400 (Quantity 4) - 0.066 cubic meters
    140 x 55 x 2500 (Quantity 2) - 0.038 cubic meters
    140 x 55 x 2130 (Quantity 2) - 0.033 cubic meters
    140 x 55 x 1600 (Quantity 2) - 0.025 cubic meters
    90 x 55 x 2400 (Quantity 2) - 0.012 cubic meters
    90 x 55 x 1500 (Quantity 2) - 0.015 cubic meters

The total comes to 0.291 Cubic Meters

I would appreciate $1150 for the lot. I feel this is a fair price however am willing to consider any reasonable offers. Would prefer to sell as one lot as I have many cubic meters of timber that I will be offloading.

I have included photos of the ray fleck figure in a few boards and I have made sure to include those boards that have knots so you can see the defects up front. I have also included photos (For demonstration purposes only - the shave horse is not included in this lot) one of several shave horse that I built from this same lots of London Plane. Some of these shave horse maybe up for sale separately as well in the future.

    Bump -

At this point I am willing to consider splitting the 0.291 cube pile in half.

I need this gone asap - any reasonable offer will be considered. Plus I have 4 more cubes of stuff that needs to go.

I am surprised that no one has shown any interest in these the quality is good and the price is reasonable - if they are not sold soon I will probably just take all my wood to the tip or dump it on the roadside. I need this stuff gone.

Almost poured petrol around my workshop today I was thinking of burning it all down - simpler then trying to sell it all.

Can't offer any purchase but wonder if you have any wood guilds, high class woodworking educational institutions, or gallery owners who may know of people to contact.
I'm in or will be in similar situation but with high grade Tasmanian native timber and that's my initial approach.

It looks very pleasing timber and craftsmen (women) who aren't strictly native timbers only could possibly relish the opportunity.

Your shave horse looks very neatly crafted

Hey Thumbsucker. I'm not super ready to start building a stock pile of wood yet as my up coming projects are cabinets and will only require ply.

If you get desperate let me know. I have some space so could perhaps take some or split with other Melbournian locals.

    Just flagging my interest.
Will PM you with details so we can chat.
I can’t take it all, as I have similar storage issue.
But I’d like to take some. Let check what I’ve got space for…

Today I had a member come down from Ballarat and pick up a dozen assorted boards for a few projects.

I think instead of trying to sell these timbers a single lot it is best to sell it piece meal for a slightly higher cubic meter price.

So if you need some timber for your next project and do not mind a trip to the country, come on down to Traralgon. First in best dressed as they say.

    Message me to make arrangements.
