Default Merbau Boards - the VERY good stuff

    Four boxes.

These have been in my Special Reserve for years.

These boards are VERY rich red, highly figured and have an INTENSE POP to them. The photos, like most things, do them absolutely NO justice.

They were "kept aside" by a friend who was a flooring dude during a job. They were initially sold as premium boards, but to put them on a floor was utterly heretical. He bought other new boxes, lay those and sold me these (bloody mercenary!)

The four boxes are 17.5mm x 92mm and 900mm long.... 20 pieces per box....Each box is 25kg and covers 1.65M square.

The boards I've photographed are spares I'll chuck in.

I was initially going to make chests, boxes and chop boards with them, but time slipped away.....

Looking for $85 a box, $300 for the lot.

    ------> The Facts!
I'm looking to clear the lot ASAP - pickup in Mawson Canberra 2607.

For pickup, I'm happy to stick labels to boxes, pack everything reliably and work with you on getting it to you safely.

EACH box is, or will be very close to 19 x 19 x 90 and 25kg.

My postcode for collection is 2607 - so using e-go.com.au or transDirect.com.au one can calculate the courier to your own place

Please feel free to ask questions or request more/better/alternative photos.

    ----> Blurb....
Come have a squizz if you wish. I know this is against the forum rules, but I'll also post this to Gumtree later on. I'll come back and include a link. IF someone expresses interest there, I'll check here first to see if anyone has indicated interest. I won't gazump you, for the forum membership is my first preference.

Feel free to IM me here, or if you are a Telegram Chat user my handle is @Woodpixel (surprise!)

I'm selling, per the other threads, from downsizing due to a terrible and intractable family illness. I would not be selling my Stash and Beloved Tools unless I had no choice - which I don't, so hence I am. NOT looking for sympathy or condolences, just advising this so you know it is a very real and very reluctant sale of things I especially love... so therefore you will find them Most Precious too.

p.s. Ignore the condition of the boxes. The spiders in the corner of my studio have had a field day there over the last 8 years!

Stunning! I've never seen Merbau like that before, but if I buy, or even acquire for free, any more wood at the moment the wife will have my guts for garters.

I thought the general rule for shed stock or tools was "Better to seek forgiveness than ask permission!"?

Or have I been doing it wrong all these years? ;-)

Do it! Do it! Do it!

    cheers, Ian

edit - a few people are talking to me via PM. It get too hard for my feeble mind to keep everything straight Can we just ask what needs asking here please

Ive not bothered putting this on Gumtree as it look like all will be taken here.

    First in, first served

BTW, no pressure, but JUST LOOK at THAT COLOUR!!!!!

This is under my AEG LED studio lights (8 of them). The earlier shots were done outside in afternoon light with the same camera and the same automatic settings (a Xiaomi MiMax 2). You can see the light colour has a dramatic effect on the apparent colour. I love this timber. It has been in my stash for a very long time, I had a lot of intentions for it.... but alas....

I'd wager Crowie will be taking a box.

Here are some extra photos showing me opening a box and indiscriminately taking some photos with my phone camera. No fancy settings or trick photography (such as HDR).... it really is these amazing colours.

It breaks my heart to sell this. $85 is a bargain. It was part of my special reserve Top Shelf Stash.....

THREE boxes left if crowie takes one tonight

There are 20 such boards per box. I measured the grooves... the boards are 18mm thick and have grooves just under 6mm deep. There is *at least* 12mm usable good wood once you trim the backs off. I'd say 13mm....

Could I please ask for two boxes, assuming they have not been promised/committed to others please?

I'll drop a PM with details for shipping and the like.

Hi Ian, Ive sent you a PM with all the info.

Ive noticed your messages are a bit chopped or missing bits. Perhaps a re-read to ensure it has everything before sending?

You will all LOVE this wood.

All, I've sent congratulatory messages as to your fine taste and my sorrow.

All booked in and will be picked up by courier Wednesday. You should have, in your email, a confirmation of such from the couriers.

    Thank you, greatly! Enjoy!
