Default Queensland Rosewood

Hi all,

I have some good stands of Queensland Rosewood on my block which I want to see whether there is a market for. Most of it is dead standing timber that has died over the years but not fallen down. Sizes range from 4" diameter up to 12" diameter.

The timber has a beautiful grain when sawn or turned, and anyone who has worked with it can confirm it is EXTREMELY hard and will last a life time. Some of the Rosewood posts that I have removed from old fence lines have been in for over 60 years and are still in fair condition.

Anyways, let me know if anyone is interested. I am sure it could be turned on a lathe, plus I have seen quite a few rocking chairs and bush furniture made from it whilst browsing the web.

Matt

Hi,
I'd be interested in 4 or so turning blanks roughly 450 x 50 x 50mm (or 18 x 2 x 2"). Longer or slightly thinner is fine too. Quartersawn or backsawn is fine.
These are for woodwind instrument making
I'd have to have them posted which hopefully wouldn't be any trouble?
I'll PM you.

Cheers,
Vaughan

Some photos of the cut timber would be good to see the quality of the grain, etc.

Cheers,

I will get some pics up once I bring some timber back to the house.

Hi 82 shovel.
You got a 82 shovel?
They are a pretty cool bike to have.
My cobber has one, a wideglide. With the commemorative plaque glued on to the front fender. First year HD re-took AMF/HD.
Nice.
