Default Timber - silky oak and meleluca (ya gotta slab it)

    Hi there,

A friend of mine is about to have some trees professionally cut down - a silky oak (trunk at least 6m) and some melelucas a bit smaller.
She's engaged an arborist to bring them down, but thinks it's a shame for the wood to go to mulch - anyone want to come get some logs, or slab it?

Not sure how much she wants for it, don't expect it will be expensive.

Hit me up if you're interested.

    Cheers,
    --Dusty

    Hi Dusty,

I'm amazed you haven't had an answer, but ten again green timber can be a hassle. The drying and slabbing (in whatever order) is a lot of work so people usually need to get the timber for free to make it worthwhile. I'm past that kind of work so not a contender. If you or your friend paint the ends of the logs and store somewhere under cover they will be saleable in the future. Allow one year per 25 mm of thickness for drying if in log form and removing the bark is a good idea (but not essential). Once dry you could get $100 for a few logs.
