Default Yellow Stringbark Slabs and Boards on the Mornington Peninsula

    Retiring from business sellout.

Collection of birdseye and fiddleback Yellow Stringy, Silvertop Ash and other East Gippsland species slabs and boards. Some slabs are up to 5 mtrs long and 600mm wide with a number that are smaller. I've been collecting these timbers for over twenty years. They've been kept dry and flat.

The pic below is a sample of the finished timber but easier to sms pics of the slabs.

Happy to sell individually or as one lot.

    Approx $2000 per cubic mtr

    Cheers

    Terry

Update on this - well I missed out with a local recycler buying the lot, and good luck to him.

There was quite a bit of very good and desirable timber across many varieties. I contacted the buyer in person to express my interest in purchasing what I was originally interested in, which was duly noted with a direction to call me when it was ready for sale.

Fast forward to today, and when I contacted the reseller was advised that most of the timber was sold when received - to state that I was disappointed is an understatement. But such is life and I bear no ill will to the recycler.

That stated I was astounded at the price that was quoted to me for the single and only remaining piece left at 2.7 x 0.45 mtrs which a back of the envelope calculation approximates to a tad over $8000/cube. Now I understand that $8000 is not a lot of money for timber these days, it's just that it was marked up fourfold over what the original seller wanted - I have no doubt that being a bulk lot the paid price would have been somewhat lower.

I am aware of margins, overheads, warehousing, staff, transport, excess stock etc but it is still not bad money for a quick turnover of <$2000 to a selling price >$8000/cube.

I suppose it is a supply and demand thing really with good dry timber getting hard to find. I see that Mapleman was quick have a go at the price without actually seeing the timber in the flesh. I have seen some interesting prices around by some forum members and although they may ask alot for it in the first place you can always negotiate and come to some sort of agreement. I bet whoever bought all this stuff didn't pay the advertised price . As long as you get what your are promised and pay for in the end who cares.

I have bought timber through here on a few occasions. I told them what i wanted to do and left the rest to them and was stoked with what I got from Gred ward at boutiqe timbers but not as happy from another place (No Names)

I didn't 'have a go' at the price at all... Dorno
If fact I suggested that the timber, given the quality indicated by the pics, was quite reasonably priced at $2,000m3
I am sure most people with any timber acumen would agree with my comments, except you of course...MM
