2hp Dust collector
way too much sawdust in my garage
I bought a $80 3hp unit with a dead 3 phase motor in hope of swapping the motor out before i moved here, but cant seem to find a single phase motor with the right shaft so i guess that's money down the drain
It also looks like there just isnt enough power in my garage to run it as well as anything else that is high power at the same time (looks to be just 16A on the fuse) and not sure if the conduit will allow anything else in it
so after a 2hp unit, ideally with a paper filter, and on a tight budget at the moment

Buy 3hp motor and VFD.
Speed control.
Slow/soft start (no inrush surge).

Most power hungry thing i have at the moment is 2400w (router)
I currently have a triton workcentre saw and router table but planning in replacing them for an induction based saw and a cabinet router table
Might one day get a jointer and thicknesser

The 2400W router won't draw anywhere near 2400W unless it is very heavily loaded such as when using a very large round over or profiling bit.\s
Aside from when starting (and it may be it's a soft start motor so in that case starting won't matter) the 2400W motor in the router will nominally draw < 2A (500W) when free running and for most bits no more than about 6A (1.5kW) unless clogged a 2HP DC draws a constant 7A (~1700W) which adds up to 3.2kW (~13A) so your 16A breaker will cope with that especially as typical router use is not constant but intermittent.
Table saws, Jointers and thicknessers tend to be more constant use than routers so when you get those I would suggest getting a dedicated 15A circuit, maybe 2 - one for machinery and one for a DC.

I have a 2hp single phase minus the bag etc on a base.DA3B5B36-D701-44CC-ADB3-A2A4831D4E70.jpg
It’s in Geelong if you want to come for a drive. It is working and for a project I have never gotten around to doing,
