Default Clearvue CVMAX cyclone in SEQ

Looking for a CVMAX cyclone system in South East Queensland or just over the border. I won't need the filters.

    Thanks,

    Mitch.

I am bumping this thread because I'm still chasing a clearvue cyclone. Please let me know if you have one you'd like to sell.
    Cheers.

Have you thought about making one, the plans are available on Bill Pentz's website. In all the years since I started importing them I have seen exactly one used CV cyclone for sale and it had never been installed because of a business plan change.

I'm very close to ordering a new one and considered building too.

Seems like the impeller would be the hard part. Would you suggest building the blower and housing? or just buy those bits?

If you are going to make the cyclone make the whole lot, buy a three phase motor locally, (I used Teco motors) and the impeller from Clearvue. A VFD can be obtained from many sources including myself/ABG. The advantage to ABG supplying the VFD is we have local expertise for any problems and direct factory support if needed from the manufacturer. For the average person an 1800 run at 70hz is more than adequate. I have been running mine at 70hz for over 12 months now and it hasn't blown up yet, the 10hz lift from 60hz really does make a difference. If you buy one you will not be disappointed, I have never heard anyone say they were not happy with the performance.

    Awesome. Thanks for the advice.
Time to start reading and planning.

    Hi magooza
I have a CV1800 and have a slighly different view to Chris. While I still think the CV cyclones are excellent I wish I had bought a slightly different model combination. The real downside is their ability to make significant noise.
Do you really need a CV Max. Are you intending to run more than one machine concurrently and are you prepared to run 225 mm piping? If not a CV max may be overkill.

Running the impellor at 60hz or even 70 hz as Chris suggests will significantly increase the noise. This will probably require you to place the cyclone in another room or at least in an insulated cupboard.

I wish I had purchased a CV 1800 cyclone with a CV max impellor and housing. This would have allowed me to run at 50hz with reduced noise and the equivelent air flow as a CV1800 at 60hz but still using 150mm piping. More than adequate for use wiith a single machine at any one time.

My other suggestion is to wear the cost and just buy the machine. They are very well made and just work with a little easy assembly.
    Cheers

Ron makes some good points and what he proposes was the original thinking when the Max was designed. The Max at 50hz will flow about the same amount of air as the 1800 at 60hz. The problem was that Bill Pentz had designed the 1800 to have his ideal flow rate at the machine at 60hz and the rest of the world used 50hz resulting in a major loss of air flow well below the BP ideal figure. Using a VFD and a three phase motor makes a cyclone a very adaptable machine. I run mine at a lower speed during night hours and never have any complaints from the neighbours. Mine is in the shed and exhausts through a sound suppression box and they can barely hear it at full speed anyway.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the information. I think the larger blower on the CV1800 might be all I'll ever need in my small workshop.

    Cheers,
    Mitch.

Agree with all of this. I don’t have one for sale but I do have a CvMax in Brisbane if you wanted to take a look at an install prior to committing to a purchase. Drop me a PM if this is of any interest.
