Both Liogier and Auriou make curved round and flat sawmakers rasps in a variety of grains . Not cheap but excellent .

    Hi Paul

Thanks for that, the rasps I'm looking for are bent and have a safe side on the convex. Have used the Gramercy ones and enjoyed the feel, but I was unaware that Auriou and Liogier also made bent rasps, I will try to chase them up with The Wood Works Book and Tool Co Sydney.

As the US dollar is so high and very expensive shipping it has put me off ordering from OS, but, I may have to bite the bullet and purchase from Tools for Working Wood in the USA.

Gramercy Tools Hand Cut Saw Handle Maker's Rasp

I was hoping that one of the forums readers may have one spare.

They don't look very heavy so another option to consider is to use a drop ship company to save some money on shipping from the USA.

This. Shop and Ship base all shipping solely on weight, not dimensions, and might be worth taking a look at. You can join, and pay a subscription for slightly better rates, but for occasional stuff, it wouldn't be worthwhile. They have an online calculator you can use to estimate costs.

Have used these guys to get kit out of Germany, it works well.

Thank you all for the drop-shipping idea, sounds like a great idea I have just looked at the ship&shop web sight $32.80 membership to sign up for life and $28.60 per kg. If no one has a saw makes rasp in Oz' I will have to import them.
I will have to check if the supplier allows drop shipping.
    Thanks

    Default Drop-Shipping

I don't know if this could become another topic and may be move the post from this thread?
Just looking into the drop-shipping idea and getting very confused.

Just found some rules about what is allowed through the drop-shipper, of course some of the items are expected and some items excluded from import surprise me and may include a lot of items found in the online catalogs of overseas wood work suppliers.
The following are some of the items not allowed Animals, Antiques, Batteries, Chemicals and any Flammable product (Basically any thing used in the woodwork shop), Fragile items, Drugs, Gases, Gift Cards, Glue, Government issued documents, Guns, Magnetised materials, Metal Detectors, Money, Weapons. The full list is quite extensive. Any items total value over US$2500, any item over 32kg and "sharp tools"! I have attached a link to the item "unacceptable commodities" for drop-shipping into Australia

'Wow' if one strictly follows the rules almost any thing sold at a woodwork supplier is banded from exporting into Australia via drop-shipping.

Have I got some thing wrong in my understanding of the rules?

Who interprets the regulations? (they could be very laisser-faire or very officious) What if one breaks one of the rules, are the items confiscated?

Your not getting much help hear, 🥹,
Have you tried Fine Tools in Germany,

I’ve ordered from them in the past an found them excellent too deal with.
Unfortunately I can’t remember what the shipping costs were like, I think they were reasonable, but I may be wrong.

    Cheers Matt.

I'm afraid shipping costs have increased a lot. I stopped using the drop-ship companies because they would not ship wood by the cheaper methods. As I was primarily collecting vintage handsaws, that became prohibitive. On one occasion an Ebay seller threw in a wooden file handle as a bonus without my knowledge. I selected for a particular shipment goods that did not have any timber. They went through the goods andspotted the file handle. It cost me US$ 70 to use an alternative shipper. It is still the most expensive file handle I own.
