Default Plough Plane

Hi

I'm looking to buy a plough plane, something like a Stanley #45 would be great. Please PM if you have one for sale.

Cheers
Andrew

Hello Andrew

I have one (not a 45) sitting unused. I doubt it has done 6 strokes in it life. I'll PM you in an hour or two , when I can get to the shed, with details.

Thanks to those who PM'd

I should have mentioned that I'm looking for a user not a collector plane, so something that's lost some finish, has some rust or is missing blades and so is a bit cheaper would suit me well. Looking to spend no more than about $60.

Cheers
Andrew

$60 for a usable #45 is a bit of a stretch Andrew. You may be able to pick up a #50 for around that price.

OK there are several alternatives besides the Stanley 45.
Stanley 50:
stanley 50 plane | eBay

Record 040:
record plough plane | eBay

Record 043:

Rapier plough plane:

Davleco small plough plane:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/davleco-g...item43acfdc173

Record 044
record 044 plough plane | eBay

Sargent 1080 multi plane and Stanley 050 - no hits on ebay - sorry.

Record 405:
http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?rt...=p3286.c0.m283

Lewin 615 is uncommon but a good plane. Often missing its cams. Here's one:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VINTAGE-L...item256c1ea081

And of course there is this Stanley 45 - just under your budget incl postage:
Vintage STANLEY No 45 Wood PLANE Needs Help | eBay SOLD for AU$16.40 plus post

It might be hard to find a Stanley 45 for $60 Andrew, but then again you might just get lucky.

Don't forget that there are wooden plough planes as well:
plough plane | eBay

These work every bit as well in the ploughing dept - of course they aren't multi-planes only ploughs.

Good luck with your search.

Sorry all, I think I've got a bit confused. Thought the #45 was the basic plough. Will have a look at SG's suggestions - thanks

Default Record Plough 044

I can offer a very good condition Record 044 plough with a blue vinyl wallet containing 8 various blades in sizes 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2 , 9/16. Nickel coating all intact and no rust. All parts present. It will cost you or anyone else interested $70.00 plus postage or it can be picked up in Hoppers Crossing Vic. I have attached a picture of a 044 copied from the net. This is what mine looks like. The one I have does not have the original box, instructions and long rods as shown. Mine is the same as the plane shown and blue wallet with blades with short rods fitted. Actual pictures of the plane I am selling can be added at a later time if anyone is interested.

Regards Col.

Hi Col

I haven't been near the PC sorry. It's still a little more than I'd planned to spend but I'll have a think about it and get back to you.

Cheers

No worries. . I will never use it as I have a full set Stanley 45 that I use so if you want this one I will let it go for $60.00. plus postage or if someone is traveling from my way to yours maybe they can pick it up.

Col.

Thanks.

Another one bites the dust. I will have to sort out more stuff to get rid of now as my lovely wife has decided that it is time for us to move to a new location. I am dreading moving all the stuff in my shed and not looking forward to the possibility of moving to a smaller shed. Hopefully a bigger shed will come along but I doubt it.

Col.
