    Default Sawstop

I've decided I'm going to get a sawstop (the saving of digits for the use of). Figured the many eyes of this group will be better than my tired old pair, so I'd appreciate a heads-up if anyone spots one, or knows of a tool shop sale.

Probably something like the cabinet saw with 36" t-glide rail if I buy new (huge overkill for me, and no way I can justify it, but. Y'know. Reasons.)
The contractor saw would probably do all I ever need, so 2nd hand it would be an option.

No hurry - I have 7.35 million things to do in the Shed as it is...

good luck. I've seen a total of TWO of them of 12+ months watching. one was someone on GT who was moving/downsizing garage who had a contractor saw; don't think they were here on the forum, and I think it went for nearly the RRP. The other one was also listed on GT but was someone here, this was only a few weeks ago, and they got a great price for theirs (it had more than the standard cabinet saw, and went for more than the RRP).

After these few examples, I've decided they're unicorn poops, and if I commit to one I'll commit RRP / warranty etc....

I bought a contractor saw late last year when Timbecon had 10% off for a few days. The discount more than covered the cost of the mobile base.
Haven't had much of a chance to use it in anger yet but it will get a good work out very soon on a couple of projects in the pipeline.
I have to say that it was exceptionally well packed and the instructions left nothing to the imagination.

Agreed - I tend to buy new unless there's a significant discount for the 2nd hand that offsets the lack of history and warranty. Timbecon and Carbatec have had sales in the past, when I wasn't ready to buy one, so I'm happy to wait for the next

I recall someone here on the forum say that he was selling his Sawstop to buy a slider and it was not all that long ago. I have no idea of who it was or how to do a search.

Keep an eye on Total Tools. They have "20% off" nights a few times a year with the 20% being in store credit. I bought a jobsite Sawstop last year and the 20% got me a Krueger router table plus accessories for both saw and router so very happy. You don't need to use the credits the same day.

Trend Timbers have a couple of 'open days' a year and sell Sawstop machines. Might be worthwhile contacting them to find out when the next one is on. They have special deals on the day, you could try twisting the arm of the Sawstop demonstrator / rep.

    They are nice machines.

Just opened an email from Carbatec saying that Sawstop prices will be increasing in April but did not say by how much.

If you are in the market, it might be worth enquiring.

Sawstop are now owned by Festool and Festool routinely have annual price adjustments and it is always upward.

noooo, those damn price fixers !

Well there goes my opportunity to get one. Not going to get a pass to buy something I would have to leave in storage for the better part of a year!

Festool seem to be incorporating the stop tech into their own saws, so maybe they’ll leave Sawstop as the ‘cheap’ brand... pigs might fly

There were a couple on machines4u recently, both at decent prices. A monster 52" pro cabinet saw at a very good price - I was briefly tempted, but thankfully returned to earth. Just too big for my small shop and modest needs.
The other was a very lightly used contractor saw with 36" T-Glide rail, mobile base and the upgraded cast iron wings. Which is now mine. Sold by a retired gentleman moving to smaller premises, and at a price I was more than happy to pay.

Hooray etc. Just got to put it all back together now...
