Default An Attempt at something worth while

Its well under way wood is Snow Gum two separate pieces combined to make one at basic shaping stage. I am not rushing this it has taken 5 days now with one design change mid stream already due to a blow out around a rim.

Hollowed insides out more yesterday haven't decided on finial or foot yet

Default hi ya wheelin'

g'day,
don't know if you remember me, we met at the toolsale, where you were telling me about using files to make turning tools.
I seem to remember thinking they were too brittle but you said they weren't.
Was it you who said something about heating them up to remove the tempering?
I've got some files left over from the sale and thought I'd try making some tools from them. I'm only using a mid size lathe, mainly to make wheels but a couple of large tools to get from square/octagonal to round would save wear and tear on my good little chisels.
cheers, billy
ps, go the mighty all blacks!!!
